While a little rough when I first picked it up, I could absolutely see the potential this piece had. While I was convinced it was mahogany upon first glance, once I started sanding, my favourite walnut grain emerged!

Step by step instructions:
- 🦺 Put on my new Suadex safety shoes
- Used a combination of
- A. sanding the flat surfaces of the drawers, frame with my Dewalt random orbit sander
- B. Used my Bahco 1” pocket scraper with triangle shaped blade to remove finish from the edges of the drawers
- 🏝️ Started with 100 grit and then smoothed with 150 grit
- 🏖️ Used my Surfprep Sanding 3×4 electric ray sander to remove the finish from the detailed areas
- 🪵 There were a couple of damaged areas that I used Elmer’s wood filler in walnut; sanded smooth when dry
- 🧼 Cleaned the insides of the frame and drawers with Rustoleum’s Krud Kutter
- 📼 Taped the paint accent areas with Elite washi tape
- 🎨 Applied Country Chic Paint’s Leather Bound (3 coats) using a Zibra round brush
- 📼 When dry, I applied delicate Elite washi tape to the painted area to protect it from the tinted oil
- 🐾 Before sealing the wood on the frame and drawers, I removed any dust with a tack cloth
- 🍯 Applied Osmo’s Polyx-Oil Tints in Honey to both seal, protect and enhance the natural grain of the wood
- 🖌️ Used a combination of an Elite round brush and microfibre roller to apply; let dry for the recommended 24 hours
- 🏝️ Sanded with a 400 grit foam pad between coats; removed dust with a tack cloth
- For coat 2️⃣, I removed the tape and applied Osmo’s Polyx-Oil Clear in matte
- For coat 3️⃣, buffed in the Polyx-Oil using an Osmo Superpad
- 👴🏻 Finished the surfaces with Grandpa Ernie’s method; let me know if you need a further explanation 😉
- 🪛 Reinstalled the legs
When I see a gorgeous grain exposed, my heart jumps for joy! I’m so happy I could show it off here 🌾
