This “dishwater blonde” mid century modern dresser is very well made. In it’s time, this gorgeous piece was stunning. Now, I’ve been able to update it to be enjoyed for many more years to come.

Materials:
- Annie Sloan chalk paint (Athenian Black)
- Annie Sloan clear wax
- Fusion Mineral Paint’s hemp oil
- Fusion Mineral Paint’s METALLICS – Metallic Rose Gold
- Rust-Oluem’s Paint & Primer in Copper Rose
How I refinished this piece:
I know I wanted to sand the piece and when I started, I realized that while the drawer fronts took work to do- they were doable.

The top was a completely different story. I tried sanding and realized that with the thick layer of varnish on top, it was futile to continue. I used Circa 1850’s Paint and Varnish Remover to cut through. It took three applications.
Look at that goop coming off!
I finished it off with sanding.

Initially, I chalk painted the frame and top row of drawers using Annie Sloan’s Chicago Grey. I really like how it looked but after a few months of it sitting on my level, I decided to change it up.

I repainted using Athenian Black. There is such an incredible richness with this colour.
I treated the drawers and top with Fusion Mineral Paint’s hemp oil to both enhance the grain and protect the wood.

Using Rust-Oleum’s Paint & Primer in Copper Rose, I spray painted the original hardware.
In order to match the front metal tips to the hardware, I used Fusion Mineral Paint’s Metallic Rose Gold from their METALLICS line.

And now, this modern piece has a new lease on life!
