Why I use Country Chic Paint
When I first started refinishing, I painted EVERYTHING. I was really intimidated by refinishing wood and in all honesty, painting was easier.
Country Chic Paint is so easy to use. It’s an all-in-one, eco-friendly chalk-style furniture paint that is easy to use, offers superior adhesion, and has a matte finish that’s easy to distress. I love that a husband and wife team created this brand with the intention of making furniture painting easier and more fun!
This year (2024), Country Chic Paint’s All-in-One Decor Paint was named Green Wise Gold Certified! Their Clear Bonding Primer, Clear Coat, and Furniture Glazes were also all Green Wise Certified.
What does this mean? Green Wise Gold products have been tested and certified to pass the indoor air quality requirements of the California 01350 Small Chamber Emissions Test, and to contain less than 5 grams VOC per liter, even after tinting with specified colourants. Green Wise Gold certified products meet the same performance and durability standards as the original Green Wise certified products.
How amazing is this??
Products I use
Eco-Friendly All-In-One Chalk Style Paint
- paint combines primer and top coat, reducing the need for multiple products and simplifying the painting process (although I do always add an additional topcoat for extra durability)
- certified ultra-low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and free from harsh chemical additives making it safe for indoor use and environmentally friendly
- Certified Green Wise
Colours I love
Note: if you click on colours with an asterisk * , you’ll see a refinishing project completed in that specific colour.
Brushes
Oval brush – 1.5″ & 2″
- has densely-packed, synthetic bristles that allow you to achieve excellent paint coverage with minimal brush strokes
- recommend using only synthetic bristle brushes with Country Chic Paint products. Natural bristles absorb water, causing the bristles to flare and become too soft to paint effectively
- this is one of my “go-to” brushes!
Painting/ Sealing sponge
- Canadian-made
- perfect if you want to apply incredibly smooth, thin coats of paint, especially on tricky areas like chair spindles
- also wonderful for applying sealants like Clear Coat
Other sealants
Clear Coat
- eco-friendly clear satin sheen Top Coat
- very durable
- non-yellowing
- waterproof sealant
- Certified Green Wise
Clear Bonding Primer
- when painting a very slick or smooth surface (e.g., laminate furniture, glass, metal), this provides extra help with adhesion to make sure the paint will stick
- ultra low VOC
- contains no harmful solvents
- Certified Green Wise
Furniture Glaze
- are the perfect alternative to traditional wood stains
- perfect for patina & special effects
- ultra low VOC
- contains no harmful solvents
- Certified Green Wise
