How I refinished this piece:
*When scrolling through on your desktop, click on the black slide to start and pause the videos*
- 🪛 Removed the base and legs
- 🏝️ Removed original finish using my Dewalt random orbit sander starting with 100 grit on medium speed for the flat surfaces; smoothed with 150 grit
- 🏖️ My Surfprep 3×4 sander with its foam pads was perfect for those curved handles
- 📌 Removed the dust from the wood surfaces with a tack cloth
- 🧼 Cleaned the rest with Rustoleum’s Krud Kutter; rinsed any remaining residue with a new rag and clean water
- 📼 Outlined the paint accent using Elite washi tape
- ☕️ Chose Country Chic Paint’s Dark Roast for the accent colour
- 📐 To apply, used Zibra precision cut-in brush
- 2️⃣ Applied 2 coats overall
- 🍯 Using a fleece applicator for the flat surfaces and a brush for the edges, applied Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints in Honey
- 💨 Let dry for 24 hours
- 🏝️ Between all coats, lightly sanded with a 400 grit foam pad and removed the dust with a tack cloth
- 🆑 Applied Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear x2 using a flat brush and microfibre roller
- 💨 Let dry overnight (but only 8-10 hours required)
- 🤚🏼 Buffed in the 4th (and final coat) using an Osmo Superpad
- 👴🏻 Finished the surfaces with Grandpa Ernie’s method; let me know if you need a further explanation 😉
- 🪛 Reinstalled the base
- 🎨 Touched up a couple of spots using Coconix Furniture Repair Paint
Once in a while, a piece will come along that reminds you of why you love restoration. Think you again, Julie 😃
