This was another one of the pieces that sat in my basement for MONTHS. I knew that the finish was thick so I kept putting it off. I had to look past the awful salmon colour to see the true beauty that was underneath.

How I refinished this piece:
*When scrolling through on your desktop, click on the black slide to start and pause the videos*
- 🦺 I started by putting on my Suadex safety shoes (I’m trying to get better at this!)
- 🏝️ For the flat surfaces, I sanded with my DeWalt random orbit sander using 100 grit; smoothed with 150
- 🏖️ For all the curved areas and tight corners, my SurfPrep 3×4 electric ray sander with its foam pads was PERFECT
- 🤚🏼 Finished some of the edges by hand sanding with a contour grip
- 📌 Removed the wood dust with a tack cloth
- 🪵 Applied Osmo Wood Wax Finish using an Elite small ring brush & microfibre roller; let dry 12 hours
- 📐 For the accent lines, I first taped the areas with Elite washi tape using my Bora guide to ensure straight lines
- ☕️Country Chic Paint’s Dark Roast was the right choice for the accent; applied with my Zibra PalmPro – it’s size and angle was perfect to get right under those handles
- 🆑 Sealed the paint & wood withOsmo Polyx-Oil Clear; I waited overnight between coats (but only 8-10 hours required)
- 🏝️ Sanded with a 400 grit foam pad between all coats; removed dust with a tack cloth
- ⭕️ For coat 3, buffed in Osmo Polyx-Oil Clear in matte using an Osmo Superpad; this means that I did gentle circles with the oil until it was all absorbed into the surface; waited 8-10 hours for the finish to dry
- ☕️ Decided to paint the sides of the drawers with the same Dark Roast colour to camouflage the awful salmon stain that was still visible
- 👴🏻 Finished the surfaces with Grandpa Ernie’s method; let me know if you need a further explanation 😉
Now that awful salmon colour is a thing of the past. The wood wax finish and paint combination worked perfectly for this piece!
