I really don’t know why it took me so long to get to refinishing this buffet because this grain is GORGEOUS 😍

How I refinished this piece:

  1. 🪛 When removing the hardware, I taped the screws into the locations that they originally came from to make reinstallation easier
  2. 🪵 Scraped handles using Bahco 1” pocket scraper with both the pear shaped and triangle shaped blades
  3. 🏝️ Sanded flat surfaces with my Dewalt random orbit sander using 120 grit and smoothed with 150
  4. 🏖️ Used my Surfprep 3×4 electric ray sander to remove the finish from all the detailed areas- started with 100 grit film, then progressively used a 5mm foam pad in medium and then fine
  5. ⛽️ Filled in a damaged spot with PC Woody (an epoxy resin) and sanded smooth
  6. 🎨 Painted the inside front area and along the bottom of the sides using Country Chic Paint’s Dark Roast- a deep espresso bean colour
  7. 🪵 Osmo’s Polyx-Oil Clear in Satin, I both sealed, protected and enhanced the natural grain on the drawers and legs; used a round Elite brush to apply
Coat 1️⃣: applied thinly and did not wipe the excess; finished application with long even strokes to ensure no puddling
Coat 2️⃣: applied thinly and wiped excess with folded blue shop towel
  8. 👴🏻 Finished drawers with Grandpa Ernie’s method; let me know if you need a further explanation 😏

When I see a gorgeous grain exposed, my heart jumps for joy! I’m so happy I could show it off here 🌾

I'd love to know what you think!
