I’ll be honest, I passed this piece by when I first saw it. But when I went back and it was still there, I took it as a sign. While this piece may look like a normal cabinet – it’s SO much more 🤩

Step by step instructions

  1. 🪛 Removed the base and disassembled as much as I could
  2. 🏝️ Removed the original finish on the entire piece my Dewalt random orbit sander using 100 grit and smoothed with 150
  3. 💪🏼 Rebuilt the front corner using PC Woody – an epoxy resin and shaped with my Surfprep sander
  4. 🎨 Used MTN (@montana_colours@rexall_solutions) products to completely change the inside bar area
  5. 🖤 Universal Primer to prep the surface; Carbon Black water-based spray paint for colour; Marble Effects for gold colouring/texture; Acrylic Varnish to seal and protect the paint
  6. 🎨 Decided on a “dipped look”; For the bottom half used Country Chic Paint’s Liquorice – a very deep black
  7. 🖌️ Applied using a 1.5” Country Chic Paint oval brush
  8. 🪵 Used Country Chic Paint’s Tiger’s Eye Furniture Glaze for a little colour (but not too much) on the top (wooden) half
  9. ⭕️ Sealed the paint and glaze with Country Chic Paint’s Clear Coat using a round CCP sponge
  10. 🏅 Installed new champagne gold knobs from Amazon
  11. 👴🏻 Finished drawers with Grandpa Ernie’s method; let me know if you need a further explanation!
  12. 🪛 Reinstalled the top and hardware

This once dated cabinet is now a beautiful focal point!

I'd love to know what you think!
