I love the modern look of this Lane cedar chest. The two concealed drawers make this piece so unique.

How I refinished this piece:

Step by step intructions:

  1. 🏝️ Sanded top and bottom frame with my Dewalt random orbit sander using 100 grit and smoothed with 150
  2. 🎨 After doing some colour testing, mixed equal parts Annie Sloan Chalk Paint’s Amsterdam Green with Athenian Black; applied 3 coats
  3. 🕯️ Sealed the paint with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Clear Wax
  4. 🪵 With Osmo’s Polyx-Oil, I both sealed, protected and enhanced the natural grain; used a round Elite brush to apply
  • Coat 1️⃣: applied thinly and did not wipe the excess; finished application with long even strokes to ensure no puddling
  • Coat 2️⃣: applied thinly and wiped excess with folded blue shop towel
✨ Installed new champagne gold whistle hardware
  1. 👴🏻 Finished drawers with Grandpa Ernie’s sanding method; let me know if you need a further explanation 😏

This piece was a little outside of what I typically do but I love the creativity I used while coming up with a design plan and testing for the colour I wanted. This is your sign to do something outside your norm- it’s so satisfying 🤩

I'd love to know what you think!
