How I refinished this piece:
🪛 After removing the hardware, thoroughly cleaned the entire piece with Rustoleum’s Krud Kutter
🍐 Scraped grooves on top using Bahco 1” pocket scraper
🏝️ Sanded top with my Dewalt random orbit sander using 100 grit and smoothed with 150; scuff sanded frame
🐻 Stained top first using @generalfinishes Brown Mahogany Gel Stain, followed by Antique Walnut Gel Stain
🦭 Sealed stain after 72 hours (because water base over oil base) with 3 coat of General Finishes High-Performance Topcoat in Satin
📼 Before painting, used Scotch Painters Tape to protect the top
🤍 Applied Kilz brand as a primer
🎨 Painted body and legs with Country Chic Paint’s Hurricane with a CCP 2” oval brush
🤩 OMG- the dimension of this paint is INCREDIBLE
🦭 Sealed paint and drawers with Country Chic Paint’s Clear Wax
🧼 Cleaned the original hardware by boiling in a 1:1 mixture of water & white vinegar with a couple of drops of blue Dawn dish soap
👴🏻 Finished the entire piece with Grandpa Ernie’s sanding method; let me know if you need a further explanation
With the hardware cleaned up, this antique buffet has been given a perfect refresh!
